EVENTS
DAiSi Introduction Days at UNIL, 14 – 16 March 2024
From March 14-16, 2024, the first network-wide event of the MSCA DN DAiSI project took place at the University of Lausanne (UNIL) in Switzerland. A three-day intensive program was held to introduce the Doctoral Training Network and to foster connections among participants. The event brought together the Project Coordinator, scientists-in-charge, representatives of Associated Partners, and all appointed Doctoral Candidates. Its primary objective was to provide a comprehensive introduction to the network and to ensure a strong foundation for the project through in-person collaboration and exchange.
MOOC on Research Ethics, May -June 2024
The KU Leuven MOOC learns researchers to identify the key ethical issues in human subjects research, to critically reflect on these, and to practically approach them through experts’ lectures and interviews, case studies, and exercises.
Qualitative Methods Training Sessions, May 2024 – March 2025
On 10th of May, the online webinar series organised by Swansea University kicked off focusing on data situation, assessment and analysis, review and comparison of best practice, and evidence-based policy creation. The slides and online recordings can be found here!
DAiSI Summer School at International Olympic Academy (IOA), 17 June – 6 July 2024
On 17th of June the second network wide event kicked off at the International Olympic Academy, Olympia, Greece. The 3-week intensive research methods and methodology training consists of two parts. The research methods part focuses on data collection, assessment and analysis techniques. The research methodology part focuses on upon awareness raising of key elements of academic integrity, understanding research paradigms, methodologies, and theoretical approaches. It will also focus on the reflexivity interdependence of theory, method and data, enabling them to construct and critique the underlying theoretical and methodological elements of the research being analysed and produced.
DAiSI Meet the Expert Lecture Series at JGU, Oct 2024 – Feb 2025
The “Meet the Expert” lecture series is organized by Prof. Dr. Holger Preuß and PD Dr. Mathias Schubert (Institute of Sport Science, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz) and hosted both on campus and online. Among the speakers are leading representatives from FIFA, IIHF, UEFA, EURO 2024, MLS, FIFPRO, ECA, and DFB. Over several months, experts share their knowledge and experiences on ethics, good governance, and integrity in sport, fostering lively discussions and exchange. DAiSI student-led Winter School in Helsinki, 29 -31 January 2025
The DAiSI doctoral candidates organise a Winter School at Helsinki to gain valuable insights into the use of AI in research (KU Leuven), causal mechanisms in social science (Tatu Nuotio), anti-doping education and its transferability to other areas of integrity education (Ian Boardley), and effective strategies for tailoring and presenting knowledge to diverse audiences (Kurtis Pankow). In addition to the academic sessions, the DC’s present their research progress at the Finnish Sports Integrity Centre (FINCIS/SUEK), visit the new Urhea National Olympic Training Center in Helsinki and explore the basics of épée fencing with top athlete Niko Vuorinen.
DAiSI Winter School at NSSS, 23 – 27 June 2025
On 23 June 2025, the third network wide event of the DAiSI project takes place. The DAiSI network comes together in Oslo, Norway, at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences (NSSS) for the summer school program. Throughout the week, participants engage with leading academic and industry experts on topics including sustainability and legacy in sport, thematic analysis in ethics and integrity research, governance and ethics in sport organisations, safeguarding in sport, and the relationship between sport, politics, and boycotts. Afternoons and evenings are devoted to cultural and experiential learning activities, including visits to the Holmenkollen Museum and ski jump, a Norway–Sweden women’s football match, and Bislett Stadion, noted internationally for its sustainable operations and events.
DAiSI Student-led conference at NSSS, 28–29 June 2025
The doctoral candidates organise and host Sports Talks, a conference on June 28–29, 2025. The program featured progress updates on their ongoing research, as well as a keynote address by the inspirational Olympian Kasia Gruchalla-Wesierski, who shared insights from her rowing career.
